Foot care is particularly important if you have diabetes.
Diabetes can reduce the blood supply and damage the nerves in your feet, leading to a number of serious foot problems.

Foot problems can be avoided if you take care of your feet and act quickly when you have a problem. Get your feet checked at least once a year by your podiatrist to detect problems early and help prevent complications.
Diabetic assessments involve examination of the neurological, vascular, musculoskeletal, and dermatological systems of the feet and legs to determine your diabetic foot risk status of developing a foot ulcer or complication.

Your foot risk status determines how our podiatrists can best implement a management plan for prevention of diabetic foot ulcers and complications. Unfortunately the higher your risk of ulceration the more frequently assessments and care is required.
The diabetic foot assessment is £35.

At the very minimum a follow up should be done annually to go through the whole diabetic foot assessment once again. Depending on what other issues are occurring such as routine care which include nail care or treatment of corns and callus then you may be required to come in sooner. We recommended that routine care should be left to the professional hands of your podiatrist and should be performed around every 6-10 weeks.
